Dysthymia: symptoms of major depression but don"t meet the full criteria. Bipolar disorders: looks much like major depression with one difference, experience of hypomania or mania, differences in biological etiology. Bipolar i: mania with some episodes of depression. Bipolar ii: mostly depression with at least one hypomanic episodes. Major depression episode: periods of depression or mania, pattern influence diagnosis. Mixed episode: combination of depressive and manic episodes. Anhedonia loss of pleasure: inability to enjoy anything low self-esteem, worthlessness, lack value feelings of hopelessness, see future as bleak trouble concentrating, making decisions. Physiological symptoms loss of appetite or overeating: lose interest in food or feed depression. Sleep disturbances: lack energy, don"t want to leave bed or people who can"t fall asleep fatigue, lack of energy. Psychological symptoms: inflated self-esteem, grandiosity flight of ideas, racing thoughts talkativeness, pressure of speech: have to get speech out as fast as they possibly can irritability.
