Complex collection of values, beliefs, behaviours, and material objects shared by a group and passed on from one. Chapter 5 generation to the next: combination of spices that makes it unique. No one is born with culture culture is shared. Develops as people interact and share experiences and meanings with each other culture is transmitted. Passed form generation to generation to survive culture is cumulative redefined, modified and built upon each other culture is human social communication. Material culture: tangible artifacts, physical objects and items found in society: encompasses physical output of human labour and expression, helps adapt proper, diverse and challenge physical environments. Non-material culture: society"s intangible and abstract components like values and norms. Values: standards by which people define what is desirable or undesirable, god or bad, beautiful or ugly: attitudes about way the world ought to be, defines right and wrong / specify cultural preferences.
