Document Summary
Week 3 lecture 1 sept. 23rd, 2013. The great transformation: the rise of modern economies. The new economy and its path of development. Transition of new economies: the path of historical development that took place as industrial societies formed, the differences between the industrial economy and feudal economies. All societies have economies who function it is to provide the necessities of life by economic production. The discovery of the social framework meant that society was to be treated as a subject matter in its own right separate from the individual. This is our point of departure from psychology, which studies the individual. In order to examine the social framework we look at distinct types of societies: tribal, ancient, feudal, and industrial. We use the sociological perspective to identify patterns of social and historical development and patterns in society and history.
