Matriarchy vs patriarchy: mothers vs. fathers in governing, mothers, protection, in the home or private life, in the terminator: sarah connor, protective of her son because she knows the future, in aliens: the alien queen is destroyed by ripley. She had so much trauma that she needed to do it: father, public life, warfare, domination, in the terminator: skynet, the name of the computer array that has turned against humans, in aliens: the extermination of the aliens, at the ends of terminators and aliens, both matriarchy and patriarchy agree on genocide. Often associated with shame and guilt: an injury or wound that persists over time, ripley feels stuck, literally bc 57 years passed, which is the metaphor to her being stuck, shown by her nightmares, address trauma through repetition: her going against the aliens again, the repetition is therapeutic, this means that ripley is who needs the genocide.
