The history of all existing society is the history of class struggle ! 4 types of worker alienation:: the process, the products, fellow workers. Ideology: a set of ideas which form a coherent view of the social world and effectively govern people"s lives. Marx argued: moral, political moral, are all generated by ruling class. they were able to dominate because by default they controlled all aspects of the superstructure. In the words of marx it is not the consciousness of men that determines their being, but on the contrary, their social being that determines their consciousness. = your place in society shapes your perception. Two types of consciousness:: class consciousness: sense of common identi cation among members of a given class. Ruling class had what marx called false consciousness: false consciousness: inability to clearly see where one"s own best interests lie. Religion is the opiate for the masses - marx. = religion is a form of false consciousness.
