Methods of psychology: empiricism = the belief that accurate knowledge can be acquired through observation, scientific method = a set of principles about the appropriate relationship between ideas and evidence, theory = a hypothetical explanation of a natural phenomena i. e. : rule of parsimony is applied which tries to provide the simplest explanation for the phenomena that fits with the evidence proposed by ockham keep it simple, hypothesis = a falsifiable prediction made by a theory i. e. : god"s creation of the earth is not falsifiable, observe = use one"s senses to learn about the properties of an event or an object, empirical method = a set of rules and techniques for observation, i. e. : the debate that people had in regards to horse"s feet all leaving the ground at the same time when they were galloping difficult to detect simply by observation as our perceptions are not.
