Ligaments: glenohumeral ligaments: anterior regions where capsule surrounding shoulder thickens. Muscles: muscles that move humerus stabilize glenohumeral joint more than all ligaments and capsular fibers combined, rotator cuff: muscles that support shoulder, limit its movement range. Humerus: proximal bone of upper limb, head: smooth, round, superior medial portion of proximal epiphysis. Articulates with the scapula at the glenoid cavity: greater tubercle: large projection on the lateral edge of the epiphysis. 3 flat smooth impressions where muscles originating from the scapula attach. Supraspinatus muscle inserts on the uppermost impression, the infraspinatus muscle onto the middle, and the teres minor muscle attaches to the lowest: lesser tubercle: on anterior and medial surface of the epiphysis. Where subscapularis attaches: intertubercular sulcus(intertubercular groove): separates the greater and lesser tubercle, anatomical neck: constriction inferior to the head, marks distal limit of articular capsule of shoulder joint.
