Before the industrial revolution people went from being kids to being grown ups. The idea of teenagers in the 1950s, development of youth culture. Young adulthood (18 29) people are experiencing a prolonged youth. Middle adulthood (30 -65) the "powerful" age young adults are firmly entering their adult status the sandwich generation. Late adulthood ( 65+ years) the ideas of the elderly are being re imagined by the baby boomer generation. The functions of the family in modern society- the function of the family has become more specific. In the olden days the family was responsible for many things, but now the function of the family is very specific. Within the family children are taught the norms and values of society. How to act, how to show respect ect The second function of the family is to work as a place for adults to express their feelings and desires. In front of children adults can regress and act like children.
