Literature reviews serve a number of important functions in the research process - and they play a critical role for nurses to develop an evidence-based practice. Familiarity with relevant research literature can help the researcher in various ways: Identifying theoretical/conceptual frameworks as the basis for research. Research reviews are not prepared solely for the context of doing a study. Nursing students and nurses in a variety of roles also review and synthesize evidence.
