Frontal lobotomy = massive syndrome involving frontal lobes. Frontal lobe syndrome = range from very mild, to very severe (if enitre lobe is taken out) Frontal lobe syndrome = damage to prefrontal area (the most anterior portion of frontal lobes) Frontal lobe is important for motor functions. You also have associational cortex = involved in planning motor, life movements, and being aware of consequences, etc = very important. Previously thought that frontol lobe is responsible for intellectual functioning gall"s phrenology: different parts of the brain being responsible for different personality characteristics. Thought that intelligence was in the frontal portion. Jacobsen: decided to test this to see if intelligence resided in frontal lobes, he used a wgta wisconsin general testing aparatus.
