Every business can be seen as a collection of business processes. Information technology enhances business processes by increasing efficiency of existing processes and enabling new processes that can transform the business. Transaction processing systems (tps) provide such information as sales, receipts, cash deposits, payroll, credit decisions, and the flow of materials in a factory.
