Krajnik unit: notes: scientific method (p125-127, experiment, objective to determine if , null and alternate hypothesis, null hypothesis of no difference. If lots of bacterial species, put under general term like gram positive: predictions directional statements, designing the experiment include control, replication, randomization. Also think about sample size, choice of organism, treatments, what will be measured (dependant variable), appropriate experimental parameters, the number and frequency of observation, duration of the experiment, solutions, apparatus/materials. Null always tested: prediction provide sense of direction what you expect to see, replication repetition of a treatment, reduces experimental error, exact same thing note changing 1 thing is changing the experiment. Min number of replications n +1 (where n = number of treatments include control as a treatment: randomization not done by careful choice. Treatments are not significantly different and thus population means are not significantly different: if f calc is > f critical, reject null.
