A forest garden is an unplowed, tree-dominated field. Almost entirely maintained with local resources (household refuse/compost) Forests turned into farms and used to build cities and ships. Competition between states for territorial and commercial dominance particularly over the trade with asia. Tenochtitlan 200,000 people in 16th century, founded in 1325. Many aztec books were burned by europeans/clergy, seen as sacrilegious.
