1. Using what you learned from the charts in section 5.04 about the disparity in consumption, discuss some of the humanitarian services that could be provided globally to all who don't currently have those services at a cost less than certain items consumed in developed regions of the world, like the United States and Europe. What services could be provided globally? What are some examples of unnecessary items consumed in developed regions of the world that have more money spent on them that it would cost to provide many of those services? How do you think this reflects upon societies in developed countries? Do you think this can and should change? Why or why not?

2. Many politicians, historians and economists have compared the 2008 Economic crisis with the Great Depression of the 1930s. Both are similar in that the presidents of the era reacted by infusing government spending into the economy to help stabilize the markets but are different in the manner in which that spending was directed. Describe some of the general differences between President Roosevelt's New Deal program and President Obama's Bail-Out plan.

Local farmer's markets, CSAs (Community Supported Agriculture) and local industries are being used more and more by American consumers in an attempt to develop more sustainability in the local community. Please describe how local agriculture and consumption of locally produced items helps develop sustainability in the local community from an environmental and economic standpoint.
