Please choose one of the following disorders that affect homeostasis. The remainder of the culminating will be focused on YOUR treatment of an individual with that chosen disorder:

•  Cushing’s Disease

• Grave’s disease

•  Acromegaly

•   Addison’s Disease

  Give a brief summary of the disorder including

•   Cause

•   Symptoms

•  Treatment

• Provide a flow chart indicating the negative feedback system that would take place for this particular disorder.

For each of the following pairs of endocrine disorders, list thegland(s) and hormone(s) involved, and then indicate one differencebetween the disorders.

b. Cushing syndrome and Addison disease

c. Hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism

Define homeostasis and provide an example of homeostasis in biological systems. Describe the mechanisms that organisms use to maintain homeostasis. Choose a disease that affects a human or an animal. Describe the symptoms and mechanisms of the diseases.

Diabetes is a metabolic disorder in regulating blood glucose levels and results in hyperglycemia. Inulin and glucagon are two important hormones secreted by the pancreas to control our blood glucose level.

Write a short essay discussing:

a homeostasis in the human body;

b the role of inulin and glucagon in blood glucose homeostasis;

c the development of diabetes by applying the concept of homeostatic disorder.
