Structuralism the analysis of the mind in terms of its basic elements: wilhelm wundt (1832 1920): established the first experimental psychology laboratory at the university of leipzig (germany). He trained the first generation of scientific psychologist: wundt and titchener (his graduate student) both believed that the mind could be studied by breaking it down into its basic components.
