Biol course focuses on the impact of mankind has had, both past and present, on the environment. This impact is so widespread that is had been given its own term; anthropogenic- defined as caused or produced by humans. Humans have had anthropogenic effects on forestation, water tables, the atmosphere, Clear cutting ( deforestation ) climate change, and on nearly every animal species both terrestrial (on land) and marine. Greenhouse gasses ( carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide ) Good of bad, our impact on the environment has been so substation that sciences are calling for the creation of a new time point in history, one that marks the beginning of mankind"s impact on earth. In order to understand the significance of this time point we will first need to cover how historical events on a plant wide scale are documented. Geological timescale: timeline of earth"s history from its origin about 4. 55 billion years ago to present.
