Choose 6 of 12 quotes, discuss central thematic and structural relevance of selected quote: talk about literary devices, significance of the quote and themes, then relate significance to the entire text. Produce close reading of 1 of 2 poems. Organize thesis taking into consideration the significance of this form (literary devices, style, narrative, symbols) as well as the themes of the poem you discuss. Always read the poem at least twice. What: what is the genre? (lyric, narrative, elegy, prose, epic?) Is the structure related to the theme: literary devices; diction, tone, imagery, similes, metaphors, symbols, allegory, allusions, repetition, punctuation, positive/negative space, line usage, syntax. Think about the effects generated by the devices in the poem.
