Can be cognitive, unique traits, not situational (probably act the same in class and a party) Has structure and is about how components work together (are some more important than others?) A broad, all- encompassing way to relate particular types of people or situations e. g. having a pre-disposition. For example the prof might seem outgoing and an extrovert but in reality he is an introvert and likes quiet. Role related behaviour: what is it i do? ex. Trait: relatively stable characteristics that represents a portion of a persons personality. State: momentary thoughts or feelings that change depending on time and the situation. High: in a hockey game, one player hits another player, is that person an aggressive person? or experienced a momentary state of aggression. Main idea: people have certain traits that in uence their behaviour. Ex. warmth, tension, emotional stability, dominance, social boldness, sensitivity, etc.
