People dependent on each other in order to survive ** for this reason many didn"t think about identity they were more concerned with other things. Prior to the class system not many had money so thinking of fashion and self expression was out of the question. More scientific reasoning than just religion reasoning. Ppl had the power of their actions. Printing press caused social changes ** mass production. Thinkers: john locke, therefore i am -- ability to separate their mind from there body. Mostly man rather than women were thinkers --- for the riche pp; Inductive reasoning - nature of how things work. Morality --- live of that true self. Self expression becomes a big part in this time. Subconscious -- learning to look at the human behaviour. Ppl are not rational we behaviour on subconscious desires (impulses)
