Journalists must make decisions what they should cover (what they believe that interest the audie(cid:374)(cid:272)e; (cid:862)(cid:374)e(cid:449)s (cid:448)alue(cid:863)(cid:895: news is not simply gathered and it does not mirror reality. Journalists often have to pick-and-choose what they believe is important to cover. Journalists and news editors are gatekeepers of news production, selecting which stories to cover: they determine what goes in that newspaper, today we have editors, but not gatekeepers.
