By 2050 less developed countries will have a population close to 10 billion where in developed countries there will only be a population of roughly 2 billion. India and china are at the top. Increased by 12 fold between 1850 and 1970. Canada is fairly high in the consumption. Rich countries use 25 times per capita than poor countries. Ecological footprint measures the human use of environment in hectares per person. Canada is the 3rd hardest for ecological footprint. 1. 7 hectares/ person available and we sue 2. 6 hectares/ person. 20% of the world"s population consumes 75% of the resources. Biocapacity: the amount of biologically productive area available to meet humanity"s needs. ( we won"t have enough for the world"s population in the future) (how much stuff we can get naturally) We are going beyond the boundary of our life to be sustainable but we are beyond that limit. Age of anthropocene : when humanity drives most biophysical changes.
