The nursing profession requires a variety of skill sets and roles including that of caregiver. The role of a caregiver is tailored to meet the needs of the individual. Nursing care is rooted in science by adhering to evidence- based reasoning when exploring a diagnosis and creating care plan. To give holistic care nurses need to incorporate therapeutic care in addition to the physical care. Caregiving includes evaluating the needs of the patient by reviewing a variety of domains such as: emotional, physical, spiritual, social needs of the patient and their family. Leadership: the college of nurses of ontario states that nurses show leadership by providing, faciliatating, and promoting the best possible care to the public. Leaders model professional values, such as showing initiative, demonstarting respect, integrity, and trustwortheness. Leadership is when you take action to intervene in a situation to increase quality of care, using professional knowledge, skill and judgement to seek solutions and resolve conflicts.
