Shift reports (uses sbar: verbal, tape recordings, phone calls, written reports, best information retention by staff with combined verbal and written reports but no one approach outperforms all others. Interdisciplinary rounds (uses sbar: access to multiple perspectives, schemas, knowledge, experience, rounds facilitated continuity of care and consistency of treatment, shift handoffs are most successful when interdisciplinary rounds also practiced.
