Its about reason, not emotion (saving a child you can see / saving a child you cant see, in another country) Three units of the course: foundations - notion of peace. Some people try to achieve peace through wars. This is actually a source of conflict. Problem of defining common notions: time" problem - formulation difficulty ex. can"t define time, love, justice, peace etc. We know what time is, but there"s no specific formula: counter-example problem - if getting a definition ex. And one answers absence of war, there can still be war with out peace: boundary problem - difficult to draw a line between what is peace and what is not peace. Religious concerns - to be in peace with god . A virtue of human relationships and social institutions. Distinction 1 - inner peace and outer peace. Key distinction it applies to interpersonal/group/social/international level.
