Schitz speech = vague & abstract, makes word association and moves from one set of words to another. Ex: one is being persecuted by others, objects have special meaning to person, tv person speaking directly to them. Auditory hearing voices, running commentary of behaviours, demands, arguments. Inappropriate affect: inappropriate reaction to subjects (laughing about someone"s death) Waxy flexibility: moved, then slowly move back to original position. Anger / anxiety related to disturbing thoughts by delusions. Ones that do not fit into any category. Twin: identical twins > fraternal twins to have disorder. More closely related one is to someone with schitz = more likelihood of having it. Adoption: more common if biological relative has schitz. Differences in structure / changes in levels of neurotransmitters. Environment + family: creates stress in families (more common with dysfunctional families) problems with relationships (esp. immediate family). Drug therapies: many sides effects (some worse than schtz. symptoms) affect compliance rates.
