Interested in what evolutionary biologists call adaptations- the working parts, the functional systems and subsystems, that animals, including human beings are made of: evolution bridges psychology as a biological science. Perform specific functions that make an organism better suited to its environment: adaptation exists to help one thrive in their physical environment. Ex: your eyes enable you to recognize and respond effectively to things around you by detecting and analyzing the reflected light. Racoons are nocturnal and while they do have good night vision, their front paws have adapted to become so sensitive that they often don"t require vision to discriminate food items from non-food items in total darkness. Some bat species have evolved that enables them to navigate through their environment at night.
