Thesis: the advent of colonialism triggered the erasure of traditional african religions and replaced their beliefs and values with those of christian faith. The impact of this phenomenon was both positive and negative, but it will be discovered that the negative outweighs the positive. The notion of religion in this presentation is not limited to rituals only but also includes culture, economic and politics. However, each aspect, will be investigated from a religious perspective. About the african religion: religion has a great influence on the way many africans live their life. Missionaries & colonizers: one in the same: when colonist came to africa they believed africans needed to be civilized, thus, christian missionaries worked hand in hand with colonizers to achieve this. They believed their religion was superior to the one practiced and used christianity to exploit africans: they would do this by , misusing biblical passages to further the causes of their colonialist.
