Changes since the 1960"s have occurred in family patterns and individual"s life cycles. Work has become a huge part of the lives of women, more so than it ever has before. This challenges conventional gender based divisions that organized hetero sexual nuclear families for several generations. Women tend to have to now do two shifts of work . Women now tend to rely on home care works (usually women of colour) Canadian adults are more likely to cohabitate than marry. The average age of marriage is now much older than previously. More people are living their entire lives without marrying. Marriage occurs way later than it did years ago. Young adults leave home much later than previously or return after leaving (child launch)
