Line from the occipital bone (bottom of skull) ~ vertebral t12. Medial border of scapula (the fibers run laterally then backwards around the ribcage and under the scapula) most fibers concentrate on the inferior angle of the medial border of scapula. Middle fibers: (run horizontally) insert along length of the spine of scapula. Lower fibers: ascend to the tubercle on tubercle of the spine (rough part) The fibers course down and laterally underneath the splenius to insert onto scapula. Upper medial border of scapula (below levator scapulae) Rotates glenoid fossa upwards (due to the concentration of fibers at the inferior angle) Upper fibers: elevate shoulders + rotate glenoid fossa upwards. Depress glenoid fossa (due to concentration of fibers on the superior angle) Lower third of the medial border of scapula. Large orgin: crest of ilium (top), lowest 3 or 4 ribs + lower thoracic vertebral spines (t7~t12) + sacral + lumbar vertebral spines, lambar fascia.
