How to measure users and outcome: outcome can be something such as dying from heart retention, factor of cause of death, measurement of outcome can be done through surveys (mortality data) Why do we standardize the mortality rate: standardization helps control for different variables across populations, examples, lifestyle and diet between different populations, direct standardization is more common than indirect, census = whole population, survey = sample of population.
