Sir francis galton noted that intelligence might be hereditary. Interested in determining the biological differences that led to differences in intelligence: thought that doing so could have enormous practical implications. If intelligence was based on biology, then there would be no need to spend money schooling the less intelligent: sought to determine the relationship between intelligence and other biologically based attributes (ie. head size, sensory discrimination ability, etc. ) Nb: he did(cid:374)(cid:859)t fi(cid:374)d a(cid:374)(cid:455) strong relationships. Correlational techniques have been used since galton to study associations among different skills and abilities that we associate w/ intelligence.
