Bill and sue married, bill passed away from cancer. Bill didn"t tell anyone about her illness either. Sue didn"t want to leave her home but her family insisted formal care. Older life can bring unique experiences to elderly people and their families. Elderly: new opportuniies, ime to travel, can also bring challenges: decline in health, social changes. Families members need to plan for these adjustments in context of their busy lives. We can examine populaion aging and individual aging. Old: large proporion of elderly people (65 years +) Three major components afect aging populaion: mortality, ferility, and migraion. Good to know the age of a populaion to know what services are needed in that area. 64 years old: total dependency raio: number of individuals 0-19 plus the number of individuals aged. 65 years and older divided by the number of individuals aged 20 to 64.
