Document Summary

West european (the large picture): how revolution affected them. In 18th population increase (like 33% france increase in pop) Industrialization cause pop to explode and increase even more. 1650: 100 million (18. 3% of total world pop) In 1800 only 14 cities had a pop of 100 000 or more. In 1900 140 cities were over that mark. By 1914 london had 7 million, paris 3m, and berlin 2m. In 2nd half 19th century some 50m people left europe - greatest pop shift ever seen up till that time (wealth and middle class living longer, the poor lives decreasing) Pop increase because with industrialization there is more food being made. Also no wars ( usually die from disease, and therefore no war, no disease) Smallpox was greatest disease to die from, and in 18th/19th century the first vaccine was created for this disease and therefore decrease deaths. Also major cities have their sewage systems being fixed at the time as well.
