Week 11 objectives: discuss the goals of client centered education. To empower, engage and support client self management skills in their own health conditions: describe the 3 learning domains; give examples of health teaching for each. Cognitive teaching and informing the pt and family about the condition, treatment etc. Psychomotor:skill development through hands on practice - demonstration of the skill by hcp and pt will imitate it so they can learn and transfer this in their own daily lives: examine the transtheoretical model of change. Nurses are guides coach on actions to improve overall health. Information providers- how pts can learn to better care for themselves. Resource support- connect clients to appropriate community supports. Knowledgeable emotional support- help clients minimize the impact of temporary setbacks: discuss factors affecting a client"s readiness and ability to learn. Ability to learn- being open to learning new concepts and techniques and learning about condition itself.
