Indicator: illustrates how a standard is demonstrated. Practice guideline: a document that is developed to assist nurses in understanding their responsibilities and in making safe and effective decisions. Consent, utilization of rns and rpns, complementary therapies. Seven practice standards: accountability, continuing competence, ethics, knowledge, knowledge application, leadership, relationships (therapeutic nurse-client and professional) Accountability: nurses are accountable to the public and for ensuring practice and conduct meets legislative requirements (ex. Health care consent act and nursing act) and the standards of the profession (ex. Accountable for actions and consequences of their actions.
