What is knowledge brokering

improved patient outcomes (E.g. decreased length of stay and reduced
morbidity and mortality)
• Facilitate innovation/change within organization
• Create and sustain milieu that is supportive of evidence use
• Provision of infrastructure supports
• Resources to facilitate Evidence-informed decision-making (EIDM)
Use Knowledge brokers to develop capacity for evidence use
• Knowledge brokers can support capacity development of nurses to access,
critically appraise and discuss how research can potentially be
implemented in practice
• Organizational training is the most important factor
o Ensure that they possess the necessary knowledge and skills
required to critically appraise literature and engage with the
implementation and use of evidence in practice
• However, organization training session is not enough
