Assessment of qualitative data and analyzing/interpreting qualitative data. The processes used are completely different from quantitative research and this is reflected in the language. You will not see the words reliability and validity in a qualitative study. Concerns the truth value of qualitative data and qualitative analysis. Refers to confidence in the truth of the data and interpretations of them. Truth according to the participants/informants in the qualitative research. Prolonged engagement/persistent observation verbatim quotes triangulation looking at multiple perspectives to arrive to the truth ( know the 4 types) external checks (peer debriefing, member checks) ( members- are the participants) It would be described in the analysis/result section. They would use the word member checking or a sentence or 2 that explain the meaning of member checking. E. g. results reviewed by all members searching for disconfirming evidence researcher credibility look at credentials- their degrees ( academics), their experience. Provide an example for each of the above: dependability.
