Ie: 12, 13, 14 vs a, b, c: our sensation don"t always stick to one sense, most areas of the cortex are connected to cortical areas devoted to the same sense. However, there are many examples of cross-modal processing that produce difference perceptual experiences than either modality provides by itself: mcgurk effect: bababa vs fafafa (midterm) depending on what we see sound changes. The role of attention: selective attention: selecting one sensory channel and ignoring or minimizing others, cocktail party effect: out of stimuli that is outside of our immediate attention. Inattentional blindness: failure to detect stimuli that are in plain sight when our attention is focused elsewhere. Ie: bear moonwalking vs white t-shirt throws videos: texting and driving or walking, magic tricks- manipulate attention elsewhere for magic trick. The visual system: anatomy: eyes are the window to the retina.
