Document Summary

Preparation: the exam will be based on feminist theory and critical race. Please read seidman and d2l lectures slides related to these topics as well as required pages from the e-readings. You must understand thoroughly the following concepts/terms in order to answer both definitions and mcqs. Format: you will be expected to define 5 out of 7 terms and answer 20 mcqs: feminist theory/women"s movement relationship. Feminist theory is the theory that came out of the women"s movement because the women"s movement was a political movement. Feminist theory is not trying to explain reality, it is trying to explain women"s oppression and exploitation but also thinking about ways to change it. The women"s movement was defined by elite women and feminist theory specifically focused on gender and gender roles. Not all men oppress all women; a white high-class ceo dominates a minority gay man.
