Feminist theory is not trying to explain reality, it is trying to explain women"s oppression and exploitation but also thinking about ways to change it. The women"s movement was defined by elite women and feminist theory specifically focused on gender and gender roles. Not all men oppress all women; a white high-class ceo dominates a minority gay man.
