Not all the fluid is passed back from the interstitial spaces to the blood capillaries. The fluid that is not passed back to the blood capillaries enters the lymphatic capillaries and becomes lymph fluid. Lymph fluid consists of substances from the blood capillaries which also enters the interstitial cells, and later, the lymphatic system. These substances include ions, nutrients, gases, and proteins. Lymph can also consist of hormones, enzymes, and waste products that originate from cells within tissues. Lymph fluid passes through lymphatic vessels until it returns to the blood: discuss the differences between innate (non-specific) and adaptive (specific) immunity.
