Education feminism: considers the challenges women have faced in the intellectual sphere. Women have felt pressure to appear private and chaste, and have been controlled by men who limit female"s education. Because of these limitation, women"s minds have not been able to "fly free," and half of society"s ability to contribute is taken away. It wasn"t until the renaissance era that women of privilege received education, and even then they had to strive constantly to prove their worth. High education barriers result in: women studying in secret; women disguising themselves as men; and women having nothing to do. Education feminists believe: it should be women"s right to determine their own education and employment. Women should not be subjected to the sphere men "allow" them to be in. Immediate goal of education feminism: is to gain women equal access to education which has been limited due to gender and class relations.
