Congenic - same housekeeping alleles, but different mhc alleles. Syngeneic - same housekeeping alleles and same mhc alleles. Allogeneic - may or may not have the same housekeeping alleles, have different mhc alleles (graft rejection occurs between allogeneic mice) Irradiation - eliminates bone marrow-derived (hematopoietic) cells, but does not affect epithelial cells (stromal cells) Adoptive transfer - transferring immune cells from one mouse to another (recipient can be irradiated or not) Bone marrow chimera - a type of adoptive transfer that involves transfer of bone marrow from one mouse into an irradiated mouse. Injecting donor bone marrow of another type repopulates all immune compartments - donor cells are educated by recipient thymus stromal cells. Used to determine the contributions of hematopoietic cels and stromal cells to a particular phenotype. Thymus graft - graft thymus from one mouse into a thymectomized mouse (nude mouse - nu/nu)
