Ethics= study of philosophical ideals of right and wrong behaviour-> reflection of what matters most to nurses. Code of ethics= outlines nurses professional values and ethical commitments to their patients and communities. Influence behaviour on basis of conviction that certain action is correct in a certain situation. Individual"s values reflect cultural and social influences, relationships, and personal needs. Values vary among people and develop and change over time. Can 7 values: providing safe, compassionate, competent and ethical care, promoting health and well-being, promoting and respecting informed decision making, preserving dignity, maintaining privacy and confidentiality, promoting justice, being accountable. Culture, ethnic background, school, peer groups, social media, work, and religious community strongly influences a person"s values. Choosing some that are strongly upheld in the community. Several layers of values inform the ethical questions an actions that you consider in your practice.
