Definition: the scientific study of how individuals think, feel, and behave in a social context. Social psychology & common sense: know it all along phenomenon. Common sense seems to explain many social psychological findings after the fact. Social cognition: the study of how we perceive, remember, and interpret information about ourselves and others. Try to integrate people"s motivation to non conscious thoughts. Hot perspective: focus on motivation how thoughts and behaviour affected, emphasize more on cognition. Hypothesis: an explicit, testable prediction about the conditions under which an event will occur. Theory: an organized set of principles used to explain observed phenomena: simplicity: the one that is elegant, comprehensiveness: explain what you are trying to explain, generativity: used to provide further understanding. Conceptual variables: typically thought of in abstract, general terms, we cannot test the abstract, love prejudice etc, to test, take it and transform them into something more specific and can me manipulated and measured.
