Flow maps map on which the amount of movement along a linear path is stressed, usually by lines of varying thickness and/or changes in hue, value, or saturation. Displays quantitative linear data (not volumetric) with line symbols. Negative and zero values cannot be mapped. Method of scaling: range-graded has a sample of lines and data is divided into classes and maps will only have widths presented in the legend, proportional width most flow maps are proportional width scaling. Line width scaling (unit value: example: (slide 1, set 8) Line placement map projection will control where the lines go.
