Socialization- process by which children learn norms and values that regulate their social environment. Endocrine system- refers to set of glands that produce chemical messengers called hormones. Hormones- substances synthesized by endocrine glands (travel through bloodstream) Sensation- detection of physical energy by sensory organs, then relayed to brain. Bottom up processing- taking sensory info and assembling and integrating it. Reception- stimulation of sensory receptor cells by energy. Transmission- delivering neural info to the brain to be processed. Absolute threshold- minimum level of stimulus needed to detect a stimuli. Subliminal- below threshold for being able to consciously detect stimulus. Difference threshold- minimum difference for a person to be able to detect difference (difference in temp) Generalizability: the degree to which one set of results can be applied to other induviduals, events or situation.
