Some lophophorates have a true coelom that is completely lined with mesoderm. Colonial animal that resembles clumps of moss, the colony is encased by a hard exoskeleton studded with pores, through where the lophophore extends. They mostly live in sea, but they can also live in lakes and rivers, they grow on submerged sticks or rocks and can grow up to 10 cm. Also known as lamp shells, they resemble clams, the two halves of the shell are dorsal and ventral, rather than lateral such as in clams. They are all marine, they live at sea oor or by a stalk and open their shells slightly to allow water ow through the lophophore. Snails, slugs, oysters, clams, squids and octopus. Majority are marine but some live in freshwater, and some on land. They are soft bodied, secrete a hard shell made od calcium carbonate. Slugs, squids and octopus have a reduced internal shell or have lost their shell completely.
