We focus on evidence that proves that we are right and ignore that suggests that we"re wrong. Even though we are suscepible to the same type of error, we think we are the excepion. Resources will be distributed eiciently in a perfectly compeiive market. You can"t make someone beter of w/o making someone of. If you"re interested in fairness, you need the right informaion to set up rules governing distribuion: w/o a mechanism to reveal preferences, insituionalized rules governing distribuion will fail. Virtue theory (aristotle): happiness is the only thing we pursue for its own sake. We achieve happiness by living a life of virtue (mean b/w excess/deiciency: aristotle: Our focus should be on the character of the person. Do our duty and do it for the right reasons: kant: An act done out of duty and for the sake of duty is a good act. Uilitarianism (mill): happiness has intrinsic value, greatest happiness principle is the criterion of morality.
