Document Summary

Primary function is to circulate things throughout our body. Rbcs look like donuts that don"t stain very well. Platelets are very common, they just look like a blob of dirt sitting in the corner. Easy to find in loose connective tissue, difficult to find in dense connective tissue. Have secretory granules which look dusty inside cell. Don"t focus on number of lobes, not very diagnostic. Monocyte is very easy to recognize, is huge with weird nucleus. Will have to recognize each one on the exam-->easy marks. Because of inactivated genome, nucleus takes on twisted shape. Cytoplasm looks dusty, kind of speckled but nothing very clear. **dont count lobes, depends on angle and smear. Can see how the genome is inactivated and how its being regulated. Diagnostic feature that the granules stain red--> cloudy red or really defined red balls. Looks like a bag of marbles, granules are all around the same size.
